ABOUT ME
Dr. Adrain A. Artary
Dr. Adrain A. Artary is a native of Atlanta, Georgia by way of Ocho Rios, Jamaica. He graduated Valedictorian of D.M. Therrell School of Law, Government & Public Policy in Atlanta, Georgia. Thereafter, he continued to grow his roots in Atlanta where he attended the illustrious Clark Atlanta University (CAU) as a Gates Millennium Scholar. He currently holds three degrees from CAU: a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctor of Education Degree in Higher Education Leadership. His dissertation titled: A Qualitative Research Study on The Perceptions of High Achieving African American Males Attending a Private HBCU Enrolled in A Selective Mentoring Program, investigated the components of how Black males between the age of 21-22 attained their scholastic success in their learning environments. The study contributes to the existing body of research literature regarding the academic achievement of African American (AA) Males in higher education because it sought to identify the importance of the cultural competence of mentors. The research findings can guide school administrators who aim to improve their school's AA male initiative program.
Attending CAU has prepared Dr. Artary to be a Change Agent. He has been molded into a tenacious problem solver who is dedicated and passionate about making a difference. College was an essential part of achieving his goals. Attending college was a dream that became a reality for Dr. Artary because of the generous financial contribution of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. To whom much is given, much is required, as an undergraduate, Dr. Artary served as the voice of more than 3,000 Clark Atlanta students as he functioned as the 2016-2017 Student Government Association President. He worked diligently to ensure that students had a centralized location for a wellness center and to improve campus safety. Being that students are the primary stakeholders of the institution, he also worked to ensure that CAU remained student-centered.
Professionally, Dr. Artary serves as the Dean of Students at a charter school specializing in the arts.
